Stockfish

The analysis engine is Stockfish 18.0.8, in the WebAssembly build by nmrugg/stockfish.js. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0.

The engine runs in your browser as a separate, unmodified Web Worker file. The rest of the site talks to it only through messages in the UCI protocol. None of our own code includes engine source.

The engine files are served unchanged from the /engine/ folder of this site, so you can download exactly what your browser runs.

Example game

The example review uses the Opera Game: Paul Morphy vs Duke Karl of Brunswick and Count Isouard, Paris 1858. The game is in the public domain.
